Sister Christine – No Longer a Burden to Serve
“I am not alone anymore.”
Sister Christine* came to us as an extremely purpose-driven individual. She was legalistic in her understanding and strict with herself and others.
“In the past, I did ministry by depending on my own competencies. I thought that as long as I worked hard, I would be successful, but I ended up destroying my relationship with God and people. I complained to God, and I lost joy and direction in life, gradually succumbing to depression.”
In the midst of this dark state, God began bringing people into her life who were experiencing true transformation. She soon learned that they had participated in a ConneXions program, and decided she would see what this program was about, for herself.
There, she received truth, community, and transformation!
“In the second week of the program, I realized that I had been deeply bound by perfectionism and legalism for many years. I learned to look to God, turn to Him and seek Him in everything. Now I know the true meaning of serving God. Just like it says in John 17:3 and 6:29, serving God means to believe Him and walk with Him. When I realized this, I knew and felt that it was not a burden to serve God anymore.”
As God began peeling away the layers of legalism and pride, Sister Christine began to open up to her classmates. She received encouragement from them, and in turn, took initiative to build relationship with others regardless of differences. As God revealed her self-centered approach to relationships, she repented to God and apologized to people she had hurt – and God began to restore her relationships.
“I started to take initiative to build relationship with others, and I now feel loved and accepted. I am not alone anymore. I have been surrounded by the love of so many people here, and my closed heart has been totally set free. This is a great blessing from God! I believe that this year has laid a firm foundation for my future serving in the Lord. It is a most unforgettable, valuable and precious year!”
Sister Christine is just one example of the many transformations occurring in these ConneXions programs. God is on the move!
